This brochure was produced in July 1976. It was probably one of the first W123 brochures that was produced for the European market. It is very interesting to note that there is not a single mention of the car type (i.e. W123) in the whole brochure. Instead it talks generically about "Mercedes". Here is a typical example: "In a Mercedes you can listen to a concert, nibble peanuts, think about important things, or just take it easy. You have complete control, you are safe and relaxed - whether you're winding through city traffic or inching into a parking space" The first thumbnail opposite can be enlarged to enable you to read for yourself MB's rather embarrased explanation as to why their seats felt so uncomfortable! Most of the photos in this brochure are very large and span two pages, making it very difficult to scan them in satisfactorily. There is a stunning two page pull out of a very nice yellow W123 which I did try to scan in two parts and then join together. However it didn't work very well so you only get the front of it (sorry - I'll invest in an A3 scanner one day !) The three thumbnails below this are copies of the three 4-page inserts that were put in the back of the UK brochure. The photos are not very inspiring but have I suppose a historical interest if you are a keen W123 fan. Notice that the 200 insert shows the car seemingly driving out of a river. However there is no mention of any submarine features in the brochure! All the cars shown are "R" registration, the very first year that this car would have been registered in the UK. The 280 model (which was to succeed the 250 model) got its own brochure in January 1977. You can see this brochure on another page in this website. By January 1979 the brochure had been updated although it still featured the 250. The pictures were in general more sophisticated but there were still one or two amusing ones. More sales talk for the intrigued visitor...... Reliability - the way friends are made T he reliability of a car is reflected in its economic value - its overall quality is determined by its trade-in value. For you, these two are of equal importance. Mercedes Benz cars are infrequent customers in our 4300 service depots all over the world. A major service is only necessary every 10,000 miles. They don't often need repairing because all parts and components are of quality. All design features are technically advanced and have been carefully tested. This is proved by the fact that you get a years warranty with unlimited mileage on all Mercedes-Benz cars. The service life of a Mercedes-Benz is longer than average among the world-class. Although it has been proved that Mercedes-Benz drivers in the Federal Republic of Germany cover twice as many miles as the average motorist.......
